Let’s make your website your own in less than 30 minutes! We will focus on the highest impact areas of your website to get it looking like your brand as quickly as possible.
Edit header
The header is the first thing that visitors see when they land on your website. It’s important to make a good first impression, so you want to make sure your header is visually appealing and easy to navigate.
Using the full site editing capabilities of WordPress combined with the power of Rockbase this will be quick and painless.
To edit your header
- Navigate to Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Header (it is towards the bottom).
- To change the header to a different Rockbase header pattern select the entire group and delete it. With the default pattern gone click on the Plus Sign > Patterns > Headers and choose the header pattern you want to start with.
- Edit Your Logo: Select the Logo Section and upload a new image. If you do not need the Site Title and Tagline you can delete those blocks.
- Change your navigation: Select the navigation block and choose your menu. If you do not have any menus yet select Create Menu.
When you are finished editing your header, click on the Update button to save your changes.
Edit footer
The footer is the last thing that visitors see when they leave your website. It’s a good place to include important information, such as your contact information, social media links, and copyright notice.
Using the full site editing capabilities of WordPress combined with the power of Rockbase, this process is quick and painless.
To edit your footer:
- Navigate to Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Footer (it is towards the bottom under Template Parts).
- To change the footer to a different Rockbase footer pattern, select the entire group and delete it. With the default pattern gone, click on the Plus Sign > Patterns > Headers and choose the header pattern you want to start with.
- Add your contact information: Select the Contact Info block and enter your contact information.
- Add social media links: Select the Social Media block and enter your social media links.
- Add a copyright notice: Select the Copyright block and enter your copyright notice.
When you are finished editing your footer, click on the Update button to save your changes.
Create a homepage
We are next going to set our home page. We suggest doing this first because it makes the global styles user experience better.
- Navigate to Pages and click on Add New
- Change the page template to No Title
- Add some Rockbase patterns. You can copy the code HERE and paste it in to your WordPress editor using the Code Editor option (click on the three dots next to Publish/Update and then select Code Editor. Paste the code into the Code Editor box and then click Exit Code Editor.
- Publish or Update your page.
Now we need to set this new page as our home page. This is the same process as before.
- Navigate to Settings > Reading
- Change the setting for “Your Home Page Displays” to a “Static Page”.
- Select your new page from the dropdown for the home page.
- Click Save Changes.
We now have a great looking home page! You can edit the content here later or change it completely. This step makes the next one a lot more powerful.
Edit global styles
Next up is to change the global styles. Rockbase as of March 22, 2024 includes 24 global styles that will change the look of your website with a simple button click.
- Navigate to Appearance > Editor > Styles.
- On the left you can select from 24 included Rockbase styles. Each one has fonts and color pairings chosen by our talented design team. When you select a style the design of the site will change. Your colors and fonts will be updated globally!
- Once you have found the style that works for you Click on Save.
